"Awaken! was inspired by the layers to my spiritual awakening(s). We are constantly building ourselves, through time and our experience within and without reflected. This piece was unlike many of mine where I channel a fully-imagined painting as a vision or mental image. Instead, it flowed layer by layer, day by day, as an intuitive landing point for any internal processing, emotion, energy I held and desired to release onto the huge 4x5ft canvas on the studio floor. I built the canvas frame by hand and poured immeasurable energy and intention into it. Intention for the viewer to recieve and look within. To see themselves, in one fraction of the painting. To see a future or a vision, to feel their own for maybe the first time. Trust me when I say it was painted with love, energy, and passion."
